for reading this week we were looking at what it means to be in a community.
we looked at the advantages and the disadvantages of being in a community some of the advantages are people being around you and always allowing a helping hand. another one is that you will always have some one there. to extend our learning we read a poem inspired by the beatitudes, here is my unique version
Reading W7
This week for reading we have been also looking at incrustations and how to read them we have also been learning about when it is appropriate to read the hole text and when it is ok to skim and scan and we also looked at how we need to read the hole text when we read things like the news and a recipe and a set of instructions. the goal we have been working towards is the same as writing witch is about the Purpose of reading - to understand, to think differently to show our new learning we got to pick 1 set of instructions out of five and follow along with it but the catch is that we don't know what the out come is going to be I decided to pick a baking recipe as I was making it it went rely smooth and it was rely easy to make from the begging I had a couple of guesses of what the out come would be but my first guesses was scones and I was right here is some pitchers of the out come.
writing W7
this week for writing we have been learning about writing instruction and what makes a good set of instructions and what make a bad set of instructions we also looked at two examples of a bad set of institution and a good set. To make a good set of instructions I learnt that it needs to be clear and pitchers help the reader understand more. The goal for this week is about the Purpose of reading - to understand, to think differently to show my learning around this Goal I made my own set of instructions about how to make a paper plane.
Maths W7
This week in maths we have been working on two Level 4 Number Knowledge Goals with are Rounding decimals appropriately and Ordering decimals to 3 decimal places. To gather a good understating of these goals we had to complete to math sheets around those two goals her are the math sheets and here are my answers.
To show our learning we got the chose to make something that explains one of the goals so I decided to make a how to poster on how to round decimals to the nearest tenth. here is my poster.
Maths
this week for maths we have been learning about statistical Investigation and How to add data to a spreadsheet and How to analyse your date and How to display your data. our goal this week was to complete a statistical investigation by collecting, displaying and discussing data. to show our new learning we had to make our own statistical Investigation so i decided to make mine about how meany sheep is in new Zealand. after we made our statistical Investigation we also had to make a info graph about our statistical Investigation here is my info graph.
writing
This week for writing we have been focusing on writing a good piece of Poetry. The learning focus this week is on our ability to plan and select ideas and the vocabulary we use. so what better way to tick that goal of is to write a poem. we looked a lots of types of poems and we read about what make a great poem. to show off my new learning I made a Haiku poem about my 2 dogs here is my Haiku.
Reading
This week in reading we have been working towards ticking off this goal use knowledge from text to combine with new ideas (own and others) to come up with new thinking. to tick of this goal we read 3 texts about hobbies and happiness and to show our new learning around these texted I decide to make a poster about new hobbies that you could try during lock down. I chose to write about how you should start baking and going for walks here is my poster.
Speeches
For writing last week we had been focusing on what makes a good speech and how we need to have a hook a opening statement 3 main ideas and your overall opinion we also learnt about the word chooses we used and how we should write our speech this year my speech topic is about how money can by happiness I decided to write about this topic because I strongly believe that money can buy happiness if you do not agree with me just have a read of my speech and then see what you think.
